Andy over at Real Tenerife is gathering forces to let the world know how excited we all are about the epic Clash of the Titans movie that’s being partly  shot in Tenerife. Apparently there is a poll on at Empire Online with which you can share your level of anticipation between the ranges of  ‘I’d rather eat my feet‘ to ‘Best. File. Ever‘.

With Tenerife’s epic landscape as backdrop (not to mention Sam Worthington in various stages of undress) of course the movie is going to be a blockbuster.   And in a way, a vote for the movie is a vote for Tenerife as a fab destination for future moviemakers.  So.  Go. Vote.

Tenerife is no stranger to movie crews having done a wonderful job as backdrop to bits of Planet of the Apes and Star Wars among other blockbusters. The latest movie to be shot on location on the island, Clash of the Titans  has already started filming in London before moving on to Wales and Tenerife.

Clash of the Titans  stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fienes and concerns the mission of young Perseus to overthrow wicked Hades before he can beat Zeus and unleash hell on earth.

It all sounds very dramatic and with Gemma Arterton playing the role of Io, Perseus’s love interest (which was not even cast in the original) you can expect a bit of bodice-ripping breathlessness thrown in.

Ooooohhhh.

Let’s hope the movie is a roaring success and converts itself into Cash of the Titans, which would encourage its investors to use Tenerife’s varied landscapes for other major projects  in the near future.

Remember I told you about the Mago de Oz concert on April 24th? Photographer Ventura Mendoza (a.k.a. Miurihausen) got some great pictures at the event and they are displayed on his Flickr account. I did a double take on one of the Mirror’s online headlines today. ‘Kerry Katona, Look Stoned!’, I read. But no, actually it said Kerry Katona Looks TONED. That’s all right then.

And so she did, bless. Gallivanting about in all her glory at Siam Park. Happy as a … well as a very happy person, I suppose. And all those lovely pictures of her looking healthy beautifully captured in glorious technicolour – that’ll do her career a word of good.

In other sort-of-celebrity news it seems a Manchester City footballer has spat the dummy and run away from his team’s winter training camp in Tenerife. I wonder if they’ve thought of trying to talk him back him via his website which clearly invites, ‘Contact Robinho,

Imagine honey dripping down a cheese grater and you get a visual impression of the voice of Franco de Vita. The man can cause goosebumps in a hot bath.

The man who didn’t inhale made a brief pitstop in Tenerife on Wednesday apparently. It seems there was some technical problem with his private jet. I wonder if it was smoking?

According to The Sun, the awful Coleen McCloughlin is in Tenerife now, hiding away in case she gets pestered by a local who bothered her on her last visit. Whoever that was deserves a medal for doing something to keep her off the streets and the sooner Ms. McClouglin gets her tacky wedding over and done with the better.
