Does anyone know where the Three Greyhounds bar is? And no, smartypants, I don’t mean the one in Knutsford, Cheshire.
Apparently there is one in Tenerife somewhere and Michelle has been hunting for it high and low.
Should any kind TT reader know the place in question, please post an address and/or phone number in the comments below.
(And you might want to tell the landlord that it is cheap as chips to advertise his bar on eTenerife if he wants to drop me a line about that.
)
Muchas gracias
What a breakthrough! The collected minds of government and business have come up with two prototype beer glasses, designed to resist breaking into deadly shards should they come into contact with someone’s face.
As glassing each other down the local seems to have become something of a national sport in Britain (around 87,000 injuries each year in England and Wales alone), this initiative will enable everyone to continue to get bladdered and smash each other’s face in without fear of actual prosecution.
Not that there has been much fear of prosecution in the UK lately, unless of course you are a home-owner intent on doing grievous bodily harm to the rabid gang that are in the process of murdering your family and making off with your new plasma screen t.v.
Still, that half and hour in front of the judge fairly cuts into drinking time and it gets pretty boring to keep having to come up with excuses for breaking the ASBO, so full marks to the bigwigs who dreamt this one up.
I bet it won’t be long after the introduction of these new glasses until smashing yourself in the face after downing a pint becomes a drinking game. In a race to finish your pint of Carling Black Label, winner is the first one to glass himself.
Yikes, the bars of Tenerife will be awash in blood unless they put up signs to tell that punters that glass is breakable.
(That’s two down as in two players missing not two games lost).
The Globe Bar is Costa Del Silencio’s most openly gay-friendly bar but two of the darts team (I suspect perhaps not the brightest of the bunch) were so horrified to discover that openly gay hosts Chris and Adam were actually homoseckshul that they backed out tout suite and scuttled off elsewhere to throw their arrows.
Hopefully they found somewhere where they can throw their arrows straight and narrow without fear of rubbing shoulders with anyone … you know.. like that. Meanwhile back at the Globe, the darts team are two men (or women down) and are looking for some volunteers.
You can find the Globe Bar next to Mr. Booze in Tre Bol and by all accounts Chris and Adam are doing a brilliant job as hosts. The bar is open from 2pm to 2am and serves food and topical entertainment (Big Brother, big football games, etc.) and all at reasonable prices too.
Pool players are also needed for next season so if interested in darts, pool or contacting the Globe, call Chris or Adam on: 637569770 or 617963814.

New owners Chris and Andy took over The Globe Bar (in Tre Bol, next to Mr. Booze Sports Bar) with a brilliant opening party. They started as they mean to go on with good food and drinks at good prices and something different going on every night.

With my daughter staying overnight with a friend and the little guy tucked away at Gaga’s for the night, my lesser half and I were free from the little people on a Saturday night. Yipeee!
I can still remember when the vague whiff of freedom would have me galloping off to the nearest dancefloor but instead we opted for a sedate walk round Costa Del Silencio. The first place we meant to visit was shut and the second may as well have been as we were the only customers.
Just across the road at Coral Mar, El Botijo was doing very nicely. There was a good little buzz in the dining area and enough custom to keep Amanda busy in the kitchen. Manolo, from Gran Canaria sang and played guitar for the diners while Natalie and Paula kept them happily fed and watered (or wined).
Sitting in the bar area instead of the dining section we enjoyed listening to Natalie’s banter and watching Amanda cook up a storm. Guitar-playing Manolo sang his heart out for the diners and then came to the bar and sang some more. Unfortunately though I took lots of video of him and the girls, as well as of regulars Dennis, Ben-ben and Blackie, I accidentally formatted my camera card so can’t show you any of it. What a plonker!
So, my apologies to Manolo but you’ll just have to take my word for it. If you are visiting Costa Del Silencio and are looking for good food, served with a smile, and at a cost that won’t break the bank head for El Botijo in Coral Mar.
The siren song of Tenerife tourism has long been that there is something here for everybody, whatever they may be interested in. That is not only true for those seeking entertainment on holiday but for those who live here and indulge in whatever hobby happens to take their fancy.
Whatever rings your bell or rattles your cage you will find a like-minded group blogging about it right here in Tenerife (and if not what’s stopping you from starting one?). Here are a few. Let me know if you have a Tenerife based hobby/special interest site that you’d like me to mention.
West Ham Supporters – Tenerife Hammers.
Most West Ham league and cup games are live on TV in Tenerife, and our intention is to meet up with like minded West Ham fans in the bars etc, to watch the Hammers. See link below ‘Where to watch the Hammers in Tenerife‘. Although not quite the same as being at a game live, we can still create a great atmosphere, share old stories, and share a few beers in the process.
Beading in Tenerife – Tenerife Silver Surfer
This website is the work of a newcomer to the world of beading and also a newcomer to the world of blogging. Although she had toyed with the blog before it never came to anything until she found something to blog about – her love of beading. All in all, this site is a journey as this blogging grandmother (and as it happens, my mother – Go Gaga!) discovers new layers of her craft and also discovers her blogging voice.
Yes, the truth is out there and the team at Tenerife Sky Watchers are determined to bring it to you. This website is the home of UFO research in Tenerife and is the place both to report strange sightings in the sky over Tenerife or the other Canary Islands or to find out about UFO’s here and elsewhere.
Whether you see the point of battering a wee ball around with a big stick or not you can’t have missed the importance of the game of golf to the island. There are certainly more quality golf courses in Tenerife than you can shake a stick at and even a pint sized one at Las Galletas for those who’d like to squeeze a round of golf into their lunch hour.
Rattling about in my head is the story that golf was once a sport for ‘Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden’ hence the name GOLF. Somehow I doubt that as there were once so many things that were open only to the hairier half of the human race that everything from voting booths to public bars could have been called GOLF.
Anyway, only the very odd or criminally insane would dispute that the Auld Game originated in Scotland so who better to discuss the finer points of golfing in Tenerife and Scottish golf than Sir Old Golfer, a golf writer who divides his time between his home here in Golf Del Sur and his home on the golf course bonny Ayrshire?
